Solidarity, Violence, Forgetting:
The three periods of Lesbos
PHOTO EXHIBITION
The Greek island of Lesbos, located on the Eastern Mediterranean migration route, where more than 60% of the population descends from refugees, became the media spotlight during a massive migratory flow in 2015. That year marked the turning point in the debate on migration for the following decade, both on the Greek island and throughout the EU. This project aimed to honor the memory of those who have risked their lives at this border over the last ten years, using Lesbos as a gateway to Europe.
For that, an exhibition with photography by Ana Mendes, with several guided tours was prepared, presented in Lisbon throughout December 2025 and January 2026, at CC11 @Imago gallery. A project in collaboration with Humans Before Borders.
